A member of the Historic Hotels of America, the Hawthorne Hotel was first established in 1925 as a hotel for business travelers. Over the years it has also catered to a number of celebrities and was used as a filming location for "Bewitched" in 1970 and, more recently, the film "Joy" in 2015.
The Hawthorne Hotel is an iconic landmark in the heart of Salem, a city best-known for the Witch Trials and one that's seen its fair share of hauntings and paranormal activity throughout many of its historical sites.
With all the guests who have checked in, there are a few who never checked out and have been haunting some of the rooms and halls ever since. There have been reports of unexplained noises, mists, babies crying (when there are no babies around), and furniture moving.
Room 325 is said to be the most haunted room in the hotel with lights and the faucet turning on and off by themselves. The sixth floor also experiences its fair share of paranormal activity with many reports of an apparition of a woman roaming the halls. Many believe the woman is Bridget Bishop, the first woman executed during the Salem Witch Trials. It is believed she had owned an orchard upon which the hotel was later built.
