We get it. Massachusetts town names aren’t always what they appear. When half of your place names are derived from Native nomenclature and the other half are English imports, you’re bound to end up with a few town names that just don’t seem to follow the normal rules of pronunciation.

So it should come as no surprise that when people from the opposite coast try to figure out how to say some of our most puzzling names, the results are bizarre. And absolutely hilarious. Our friends at Movoto put together this ridiculously funny video of West Coasters attempting to sound out names like “Leicester”, “Palmer”, and “Woburn.” Spoiler alert: they have a rough time.

What do you think? Are Massachusetts names really that hard to pronounce? Do you even pronounce them like this video says they’re pronounced? Let us know!
