I'm an east coast girl living in a west coast world. I grew up in New England before moving to SoCal for several years. I then lived in NYC or a year before moving to AZ in 2009. I worked in the entertainment industry for many years of my adult life and have a deep love for photography, writing, and traveling around the U.S. as well as to far-flung locations around the world. Travel is my life and writing about it is a dream!
If you live in Massachusetts and enjoy good beer, then you most likely love to visit a craft brewery every now and then. Located in the town of Northfield is a farm brewery that handcrafts its beer with ingredients grown on-site. If you haven’t been to The Brewery at Four Star Farms yet, you are missing out and need to make plans to go!
In 2008, the 250-acre Four Star Farms started growing hops with the desire to add a brewery. Over time the ¾-acre parcel of hops grew into 17 acres. Not only do they supply the hops used in their own beer but they supply hops to other brewers across New England as well.
The Four Star Farms-grown hops and grain are used in a variety of beers that are handcrafted on the farm. The "farm-to-glass" approach ensures that the brews are fresh and flavorful.
When unable to supply their own hops, grain, and other ingredients, the farm sources from local and regional farms.

This farm brewery is surrounded by scenic farmland with views of mountains off in the distance. It's a perfect place to sit back, relax, and enjoy a pint of farm-fresh craft beer.
If you enjoy New England-style IPAs, Four Star Farms has two: The Solstice, a double IPA with notes of citrus and fruit juice, and Bine Cutter with notes of citrus and light bread.
If you discover your new favorite beer, you can buy some cans to take home.
In addition to the IPAs, there's The Northfielder pilsner-style lager, Dark Oast porter, Bright Morning British-style golden ale, and Field Break, a Franco Belgian Saison. There's plenty of delicious brews to choose from!
This farm brewery is family-friendly and tables are first come, first served with no reservation required. You can sit at a table inside or enjoy the great outdoors with a seat on the patio or lawn that overlooks the field of hops.
On Fridays and Saturdays, food will be available from the Deadhorse Hill food truck. The menu rotates each weekend, so be sure to check out The Brewery at Four Star Farms Facebook page to see what delicious eats you can enjoy on your visit.
