The Tiny Town Near Boston With The Most Scrumdiddilyumptious Restaurants
It always makes me happy to discover towns packed with indie restaurants and businesses. One small spot on the South Shore has more than its share of scrumdiddilyumptious eateries that make it a great destination for foodies.
We’re aware that these uncertain times are limiting many aspects of life as we all practice social and physical distancing. While we’re continuing to feature destinations that make our state wonderful, we don’t expect or encourage you to go check them out immediately. We believe that supporting local attractions is important now more than ever and we hope our articles inspire your future adventures! And on that note, please nominate your favorite local business that could use some love right now:
Cohasset is a town of 7,542 people in Norfolk County. It takes about 45 minutes (in light traffic) to drive the 25 miles here from Boston.
Here are a few of its restaurants that you won't want to miss:
1. 5 South Main
Start a day in Cohasset at 5 South Main, a morning place that offers great coffee to pair with your cinnamon roll French toast or pancakes studded with wild Maine blueberries. There’s an entire section of the menu devoted to Eggs Benedict and, if you stop by a little later, you’ll be hard-pressed to choose between the delicious assortment of sandwiches and salads.
Address: 5 S Main Street, Cohasset.
2. Corner Stop Eatery
If your living room was light, airy, and offered a gourmet menu of American cuisine then it’d basically be Corner Stop Eatery. Doesn’t sound like your living room? Head over here and sink into one of the cushy couches in the bar area with a glass of wine. Then explore a menu featuring plenty of fish – try the Atlantic salmon with Israeli couscous. For a more modest meal, check out the sandwiches and flatbreads.
Address: 235 Hull Street, Cohasset, MA 02025
3. AVA Cucina
Craving Italian comfort food? You’ll love the generous portions at this mom and pop restaurant, which dishes up delectable pasta. This place has deservedly won numerous "Best of the South Shore" awards. Reservations are suggested.
Address: 107 Ripley Road, Cohasset, MA 02025.
4. Olympus Grille
Savor recipes passed down through the generations at this Greek and Mediterranean restaurant. Start your meal with the spicy feta spread then move onto the skewers or wraps. Just be sure to save room for baklava!
Address: 132 Chief Justice Cushing Highway, Cohasset, MA 02025
5. Bia Bistro
Impress someone special or celebrate in style at this fine dining establishment that offers craft cocktails and an extensive selection of wine by the glass. Popular dishes here include the lobster and sweet pea risotto and the free-range chicken, which is roasted with duck fat!
Address: 35 S Main Street, Cohasset, MA 02025
6. Perch 143
If you have any doubts that "rustic chic" is a thing, head to Perch 143. This cozy space with exposed wooden beams is hidden above a boxing gym! The menu is eclectic, leaning towards healthy – nothing here is deep-fried. That being said, you’ll love the burger bar.
Address: 8 Stagecoach Way, Cohasset, MA 02025
7. French Memories
This bakery is a genuine French patisserie. That information alone is enough to make me get in line! But, if you need further convincing, just picture yourself biting into a buttery croissant filled with chocolate, almond paste, or strawberries and custard. Just look at those enticing tarts! On the savory end of the spectrum, the croque monsieur will make you drool.
Address: 64 S Main Street, Cohasset, MA 02025
