With Stream Crossings and Footbridges, The Little-Known Three Bridges Loop In Maryland Is Unexpectedly Magical

If you love hiking but prefer shorter treks, the following trail is sure to please. Maryland has hikes under 3-miles, and hikes under 5-miles, but this one is only 1-mile in length! It’s great for all ages, even kids, and also features three charming bridges, which have interesting histories. Read on, and enjoy this little adventure in the Old Line State.

Today's featured hike is located in Mechanicsville, Maryland.

This trail is known as Three Bridges Loop. There are three bridges along the mile-long hike, and the planking was salvaged from remnants of hurricane Isabel.

Volunteers built the bridges, which are sprawled throughout the winding path.

...and they're picture-perfect for photographing.

You'll also love balancing on logs and searching for wildflowers throughout the area.

According to one reviewer, this natural tunnel is filled with holly, which makes for a cheery stroll during a winter day.

Of course, any time of year is great for visiting this spot. Just be sure to wear waterproof shoes if you're visiting during rainy months.
