The Oldest Town In Maryland That Everyone Should Visit At Least Once

It’s not hard to come by historic towns in Maryland, but the following spot is actually the oldest of them all. If you haven’t visited this place, you’ll want to. Founded in 1634, St. Mary's City was Maryland's first colonial settlement and capital.

Now, you can visit this historic and scenic spot to learn about Maryland's beginnings.

Although this town is filled with history, it's far from boring. There are many interactive sites and activities that keep your day full of knowledgeable fun.

Replica ships are docked along St. Mary's River. You can tour these vessels, giving you a glimpse of what it was like to travel by ship long ago.

And sometimes, the ships are part of a show. Pictured here is the War of 1812 reenactment.

Learn farming techniques from the olden days among scenic gardens. Reenactors lead the teachings, showing you farming tools from long ago.

This place will give you an overall look at what life was like in Maryland in the 1600s. It's quite fascinating, but also makes you thankful for the amenities we have today.

You definitely don't want to miss the annual May Day celebration. Dance around the maypole in a colorful ritual that has been performed for centuries.
