The Secret Garden In Maryland That You Just May Have All To Yourself
Remember the movie, The Secret Garden? Well, we have a spot right here in the Old Line State that’s just as enchanting as the garden in the film. As the weather continues to warm up, consider taking a day trip to McCrillis Gardens. It’s gorgeous and secluded, and there’s no other garden in Maryland quite like it.
McCrillis Gardens is located in Bethesda, Maryland.
According to the website, this spot was "donated to the Maryland-National Capital Park and Planning Commission in 1978 by its owners, William and Virginia McCrillis, and is managed by Brookside Gardens."
McCrillis Gardens is tucked away in a residential neighborhood, so keep your eyes peeled...
...and be aware that there is no parking available on-site. Visitors must park on Renshaw Drive or nearby.
This place is so worth seeking out, with five acres of plants, flowers, and beautiful trails to explore.
Some paths are so quiet...
...you may have them all to yourself.
That's what makes this hidden gem so great. It's truly a bit of serenity hiding among a busy part of Maryland.
During spring and summer, witness the colorful blossoms overhead and blooms on the ground.
There are dozens of varieties of plants. Bring a camera to capture the details of plant life...
...and the structures that hide among the garden as well. Relax on this rustic bench...
...or spend some time enjoying the beauty from this small pavilion.
Intricate designs surround you. Always be on the lookout.
Spring has sprung, so now is the perfect time to visit McCrillis Gardens. This is one Maryland gem that's worth the search.
