Cascade Falls Trail Might Be One Of The Most Beautiful Short-And-Sweet Hikes To Take In Maryland
Maryland is full of beautiful trails, to the point where if you closed your eyes and pointed to a map, you’d probably land on somewhere gorgeous. We love our stunning trails, and this section of Patapsco Valley State Park is more than we could hope for. This easy trail just might be one of the most beautiful short hikes in the whole state. Come take a look for yourself!
We’re aware that these uncertain times are limiting many aspects of life. While we continue to feature destinations that make our state wonderful, please take proper precautions or add them to your bucket list to see at a later date. If you know of a local business that could use some extra support during these times, please nominate them here: onlyinyourstate.com/nominate
Today's wonder is none other than Cascade Falls Trail. Though you can guess from the name, this short and beautiful hike has a waterfall we think everyone in Maryland should see in person.
This 2.1 mile out-and-back path is only part of a multiple-trail system here, but we are really here for the waterfall anyways. If you don't have the stamina for the areas of the park, that's fine with us.
Though the water level changes with the seasons, we think this waterfall is beautiful anytime of year. It's also our favorite place to relax and just let the sound of the water wash through us.
Along the way, you'll find wildlife in every shape and color, including quite a few types of mushrooms we think are too cute not to stop by. Just remember to look and don't touch!
In the fall, the trail is surrounded by yellow, red, and orange leaves that turn everything, including the sunlight, from green to gold. If you love taking photos in the golden hour, imagine if all day was the golden hour!
Dogs are allowed on the trail, but must be kept on a leash. There is a $5 fee for the trail, but we think keeping the trail clean and maintained is well worth it.
If you’d like to read reviews, updates on trail quality, or follow the route up close, you’ll want to check out the Cascade Falls Trail page on AllTrails.
Do you have a special spot you love to explore during your downtime? When you adventure outdoors to somewhere new and exciting, we want to hear all about the great places you see. If you have a good idea, tell us about it with this page here.
