A Massive Blizzard Blanketed Baltimore In Snow In 1996 And It Will Never Be Forgotten

The sudden frigid temperatures have many people thinking about snow. What was the most epic blizzard in history that you remember? For countless Baltimoreans, it’s the blizzard of 1996. While Charm City sees snow every year, the blizzard of 1996 left people stranded for days, some even up to a week. Read on to remember this chaotic time.

Near the beginning of January 1996, a nor'easter storm ravaged the east coast. It affected states as north as New York, and stretched all the way south to Kentucky.

Several inches of snow fell per hour. Most areas saw at least two feet, with some spots reaching three feet deep.

Highways shut down, people were either left stranded at home or couldn't even get home, and some were left without power for weeks. Even emergency vehicles were left stuck in the wintry mess. What was the point of shoveling your car out when more snow was on the way, or when local roads weren't even open?
