Maine’s Best Kept Camping Secret Is This Waterfront Spot With More Than 180 Glorious Campsites
When warmer weather rolls around in Maine we’ve got our sites set on the best ways to enjoy our time outside! For many people that means getting friends and family together for a hike. For others it’s a trip to the beach, a lake or simply reading a book at the park. We love all of these things too. But when it’s time to take things up a notch, we opt for good ol’ fashioned Maine camping and some of the best can be found at this family-friendly campground in Oxford County.
Papoose Pond Family Campground and Cabins in Waterford offers the type of camping experience you've seen in movies. But the fact that it feels idyllic is not the only reason we love it!
Papoose Pond offers a variety of different ways to stay, including 180 campsites and 60 cabins! There's truly something for everyone here, Whether you're a novice camper who prefers not to sleep on the ground or the type that opts for the traditional tent kind of camping, there's something for everyone!
Accommodation options include things like the Kitch-n-Bath Shelter, which allows visitors to camp with all their necessities nearby. We've never seen anything like this before and love it!
In addition to options like the Bunkhouse Trailer which is a lot like an RV, the campground offers two, three and four bedroom cottages. These are located right at the edge of the lake and offer a great way to enjoy the area and the facilities in a more comfortable way.
We love the sleeping options, but there's so much to do here there's a good chance you'll only be at your site to sleep! Head to the main recreation area to enjoy everything from softball to bingo to crafts.

Michelle has lived in many places, but counts Maine as one of the best. In addition to the smell of ocean water in the air on rainy days in Portland, she loves puppies, photography, funny people, the Maine Red Claws, traveling, fresh tomatoes, Cambodia and filling out forms.
