As most Mainers can attest to, this summer was one of the warmest on record. While we did suffer through drought conditions, it was nice to enjoy a lot of warm, outdoor days. Average temperatures were high across the country.

The National Weather Service's Climate Prediction Center is forecasting a warmer than average fall. The higher temps should last from now through the official start of all on September 22, to November.

The National Weather Service is also tracking La Nina. This cooling of equatorial waters can lead to more hurricanes in the Atlantic. While Maine doesn't need to worry about that too much we should remember that this can also lead to cold, snowy and windy winters.

So, enjoy this while you can! And, perhaps more importantly, remember to care for the environment in a way that helps combat rising temperatures which leads to these wacky weather developments.
