Take A Ride In Maine’s Unique Chondola For Beautiful Views All Year Round
With all the warm weather we’ve been getting in Maine, we’re up for extending the summer well into the winter! A few of you might disagree, but we’ve been loving the ability to get outside and enjoy warmer temps knowing that winter will be here soon enough. Because the weather has stayed warm, we’re still doing the things that allow us to get the best views of Maine. Among them is this ride on a unique mode of transportation at Sunday River.
You probably think of Sunday River when the snow starts to fall and you want to hit the slopes.
Note: Of course, NOW we also think of Sunday River when we think of the Super Bowl after the famous Sunday River kid had the time of his life watching Justin Timberlake in the halftime show!
While we're not excited for a winter full of cold, we're still pretty excited about going to Sunday River.
The only one of its type on the east coast, this unique transportation is a mix of chairs and gondolas so visitors can choose their preferred method of getting up and down. The ride takes just under 8 minutes and feel exhilarating.
The Chondola travels up Sunday River's North Peak and provides views of the Sunday River Valley including the Mahoosuc Mountains and Old Speck, Maine's third highest peak.
The Sunday River Chondola operates Thursday to Sunday through Labor Day weekend and then Friday and Sunday through Columbus Day Weekend in October. Rides are $15 for adults 13+ and $10 for those 12 and under. Learn more about on their website or visit them on Facebook. Address:15 S Ridge Road, Newry, ME 04261.
Take another mode of transportation (hint: it’s your car!) to this waterfall and enjoy the scenery right from the car!
