The Unassuming Restaurant In Maine That Serves The Best Hot Dogs You’ll Ever Taste
Heading into summer, most Mainers and tourists have visions of lobster rolls dancing in their heads. That’s all well and good, but how much buttery goodness can we actually consume? The answer might certainly be “all of it,” but every once in a while even the heartiest of Maine seafood lovers need to do some land lubbing. And when that time comes, we recommend indulging in the other best summertime food: hot dogs! Are these the best hot dogs in Maine? We’ve yet to do a formal test, but we can tell you that the secret relish on top will be the best you’ve ever had!
Before you see the building, you'll see the sign. It's an old square board promising that hot dogs are in your future with just one word, "FLO'S."
Florence Stacy bought this business in 1959, operating it for 14 years before selling it to her son and daughter-in-law, John and Gail Stacy. They've been at the helm ever since.
All these years in operation and it's never lost its allure. In fact, there's often a line which means that the inside is already completely packed with hungry hot-dog lovers.
The dogs are steamed and the buns are soft, making these pretty straight forward hot dogs. But, it's not the meat that people are lining up for. It's that secret sauce!
Flo’s Steamed Hot Dogs is located at 1359 US Route 1, Cape Neddick, York, ME. You can call them on 800-255-8401. For more information, including how to order their famous relish for delivery, click here.
Once you’ve had your fill of these unique steamed hot dogs, get back on the lobster roll train by taking this road trip on the lobster roll trail! Note: This isn’t a literal train. You’ll need a car stocked with napkins and hungry friends.
