Maine is the best. We know that and if the constant stream of visitors throughout the winter, spring, summer and fall is any indication most of America knows it too. But while we get tons of national coverage in the media, not everyone has us figured out. In fact, there are some widely held misconceptions about Maine that we think need correction. 1.There are moose everywhere and they're adorable!

There's a specific season when you might come across a moose if you're in the right part of the state, but for the most part they'll stay out of your way. However! Moose are not always adorable. In fact, they're downright dangerous if you're driving a car. Always be careful.
6. Growing up here is boring.

Our winters are certainly long. And it often FEELS like it's cold and snowy all the time. But the reality is that our summers are worth the (very) long wait. 80s and sunny is the summer norm and we love it that way.
8. When it IS cold and snowy, it's not worth going outside.
