Big Chicken Barn, One Of Maine’s Most Charming Shops, Is Located In A Former Chicken Coop

One of our favorite things about Maine is the level of quirkiness that exists throughout the state. From giant blueberries at the side of the road to our sense of humor, there’s plenty to make us proud to be here. We’re also a fairly inventive bunch, which is why none of us should be surprised to see that an old chicken coop was turned into one of the best book and antique stores in New England!

We’re aware that these uncertain times are limiting many aspects of life as we all practice social and physical distancing. While we’re continuing to feature destinations that make our state wonderful, we don’t expect or encourage you to go check them out immediately. We believe that supporting local attractions is important now more than ever and we hope our articles inspire your future adventures! And on that note, please nominate your favorite local business that could use some love right now:

Big Chicken Barn Books & Antiques is open every day from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. from January to March and various other hours throughout other parts of the year. You can learn all about it here, or follow them on Facebook.

On the hunt for more antiques? Here’s the perfect weekend itinerary if you love exploring Maine’s best antique stores.
