The Scenic Train Ride In Maine That Runs Year-Round
In the summer months, Maine sees a steady influx of visitors from all over the world. That’s because there’s so much beauty to take in when the sun is shining and the weather is warm. In the winter, temperatures drops and with less people visiting, quite a few attractions close for the season. But the ones that stay open are extraspecial, including this year-round scenic train ride in Maine.
The Belfast & Moosehead Lake Railroad got its start in 1871 and ran until 2007, though passenger operation stopped in 1960. The route went from Belfast to Burnham Junction and today the railroad offers a great way to see the state and experience a piece of history.
Throughout the year, visitors can enjoy a variety of different scenic trips through the state. In the fall, we love the routes that travel through the changing colors of leaves.
From Pumpkin Express rides to the Santa Express the Classic Winter Train ride, this is a great place to visit when you want to get a little bit closer to the Maine landscape.
The Belfast and Moosehead Lake Railroad operates throughout the year, offering train rides that correspond with the season. You can learn more about train rides and special events taking place this year by visiting their website. You can also follow them on Facebook for more information and photos. Michelle has lived in many places, but counts Maine as one of the best. In addition to the smell of ocean water in the air on rainy days in Portland, she loves puppies, photography, funny people, the Maine Red Claws, traveling, fresh tomatoes, Cambodia and filling out forms.
