There’s A Farm-To-Table Restaurant Inside A Former Maine Jail Garage And It’d Be A Crime Not To Visit
There’s nothing we love more than celebrating the uniqueness of Maine! Whether it’s a strange roadside attraction or simply a unique story about the state’s past, there’s a lot to love about appreciating the history here. If you’ve been a reader for some time you’ll also know how much we love eating our way through this place! Combine history and food and we’re in heaven! That’s why we love this restaurant and think you will too.
We’re aware that these uncertain times are limiting many aspects of life. While we continue to feature destinations that make our state wonderful, please take proper precautions or add them to your bucket list to see at a later date. If you know of a local business that could use some extra support during these times, please nominate them here: onlyinyourstate.com/nominate
Welcome to The Miller's Table in Skowhegan, where you'll find delectable farm-to-table food in a cozy-as-can-be atmosphere!
But more than just a cozy spot to enjoy a meal, this beauty is housed within the former garage bay of the renovated Somerset County Jail. Eventually it became a grist mill, which we love just as much.
This is also where you'll find Skowhegan’s Maine Grains gristmill. And the food is made even fresher with the Skowhegan Farmer’s Market located just outside.
The Miller’s Table is open Monday through Thursday 11 a.m. to 2:30 p.m., Friday 11 a.m. to 8 p.m. and Saturday 8 a.m. to 8 p.m. They’re closed on Monday. Learn more about their background and check out a menu by visiting their website. You can also follow them on Facebook. The restaurant can be reached on 207-612-5322.
Michelle has lived in many places, but counts Maine as one of the best. In addition to the smell of ocean water in the air on rainy days in Portland, she loves puppies, photography, funny people, the Maine Red Claws, traveling, fresh tomatoes, Cambodia and filling out forms.
