Play With Animals At This Remarkable Sanctuary Hiding In Maine

The only thing better than a best friend is a best…animal. Not sure a “best animal” is an actual thing, but it doesn’t change the fact that animals are the best! From puppies to cats to bird to farm animals, the animal kingdom is fascinating to observe. And, they’re always worth protecting. This wonderful place in Maine is doing just that.

DEW Haven is a non-profit zoo and rescue for animals for all types.

The sanctuary was founded by Bob and Julie Miner in 1980 when it got is start as a simple farm.

For nearly 40 years, this animal sanctuary has been called home to animals such as monkeys, tigers and bears.

Today it is a haven for more than 200 animals from all over the world.

Bob and Julie work to educate the community through educational and interactive tours with the goal of helping people to understand how important it is to help ensure the future of animals.

During a visit you'll enter and pay your entrance fee at the gift shop before heading out on the quarter mile trail throughout the sanctuary.

The area is rustic and the outdoor landscape is built from 90% recycled materials.

You can travel the loop as many times as you'd like, but don't expect to touch any exotic animals - they're all fully separated to ensure their safety.

You can however take a fun tour with Bob, Julie or the other caretakers. These frequently involve the ability to pet and see some animals up close.
