It’s really impossible to find just one beautiful area in Maine; we’re lucky enough to be surrounded by natural beauty at every turn! When pressed to decide upon just one beautiful place, we’d put Quoddy Head State Park at the top of the list. Take a look!
Every schoolchild in Maine can tell you that Quoddy Head State Park is the most eastern point in the United States.
Right on the U.S./Canadian border, Quoddy Head is located in Lubec, just four miles from State Route 189. The light was built in 1808 to warn ships of the dangerous, rocky coastline, and was one of the first in the country to use a fog bell.
It's a great place to spend a day exploring. The park is closed from October 15th to May 15th, but visitors are still welcome to park outside the gate and walk through.
Four hiking trails provide visitors with paths of exploration. From the .75-mile Inland Trail to the four-mile long Coastal Trail, you're certain to find a trail that's the right length and difficulty level for you.
