If you’ve spent enough time in Maine you know that there’s no shortage of outdoor areas to explore. Whether you’re the type to get in the car and head for a far-off forest or the kind that prefers a long detour through their own back yard, you’re bound to find some peace and quiet outside. Now is the perfect time to plan for some new outdoor explorations and this area near Gray is a great place to start!
Welcome to the Pineland Public Reserve Land located about four miles from the center of Gray.
It's the perfect place to explore the forest of Maine throughout the year. While some trails are best accessed in the spring and summer, this area is wonderful year-round. In fact, with its frozen waterways and snow-covered trees, it might be even more special in the winter.
There are two main routes to explore making up just over 3 miles of loop trails. Check out the 1.7-mile North Loop Trail if you're up for the challenge of some steeper slopes leading to the Royal River.
And don't forget your furry friends! Just be sure to keep them on a leash while you keep your distance from others.
