There’s A Monastery Hidden Near The River In Maine And You’ll Want To Visit
In a world where the news is always on and it’s hard to find a moment of rest, discovering new ways to relax is ultra-important. For some that might mean a good book inside. For others, a nice rest day might include time with friends enjoying a meal. We love both of those things, but we also enjoy the cool breeze of a day outside in Maine. And this peaceful spot in Kennebunk is a great place to find it.
Head to Kennebunk, just off of the Kennebunk River, for the opportunity to relax completely.
Inside things are even more beautiful. This intricate stained glass was in the main chapel was crafted by Vytautas K. Jonynas, a Lithuanian architect and artist.
To see some of the best spots at the monastery, be sure to grab the Walking Tour of the Shrines, which will not only lead you on a tour, but it will point out the elements you just can't miss.

Michelle has lived in many places, but counts Maine as one of the best. In addition to the smell of ocean water in the air on rainy days in Portland, she loves puppies, photography, funny people, the Maine Red Claws, traveling, fresh tomatoes, Cambodia and filling out forms.
