Opened In 1946, The A1 Diner Is A Longtime Icon In Small Town Gardiner, Maine
The A1 Diner in Gardiner, Maine, earned its 15 minutes of fame when it got a visit from Guy Fieri. They were featured in the show Diners, Drive-Ins, and Dives to a very impressed host. We agree and think our little diner in Gardiner is wonderful. It has been around since 1946 and has made it to legendary status.
The A1 Diner sits as an icon in the historic town of Gardiner.
This old diner car has been a part of the city for a long time and we are thankful for their consistently delicious food, great service, and the value they add to the community. The bridge has been updated and the rickety staircase has been given a makeover, so things look a little different, but the historic A1 Diner remains the same.
The diner car will be decorated for the season, with pumpkins lining the top in the fall.
At Christmas time decorative wreaths are hung from the windows, but perhaps our favorite time is summer. They add tables to the sidewalk and you can enjoy your meal outside on a nice sunny day.
If the weather is cooler then the nice cozy diner is the place for you. Head in and find yourself in a booth or at the bar and prepare yourself for an amazing meal.
Grab the ever-popular breakfast items like pancakes, french toast, eggs, and omelets. You can not go wrong with a single item on the menu. We also suggest the breakfast burrito for something a little different for the first meal of the day.
A1 Diner is open for lunch and dinner so you will have plenty of opportunities to partake in the dishes that made this restaurant what it is today.
They prepare everything with fresh ingredients by hand every day and the menu is quite diverse. You will find an array of wraps, sandwiches, and salads as well as a variety of specialty burgers. One particularly tasty burger is the Mexican burger seasoned perfectly and topped with their own original salsa.
Make sure to not have too much of your fill on meatloaf, fried seafood, or any of the other lunch and dinner options. We know it's easier said than done, but you will want to leave room for dessert. The A1 Diner serves up some incredible pies and you will be thankful you saved the room.
Feel at home when you visit the A1 Diner in Gardiner, Maine, and enjoy a mouthwatering homemade-style meal. A diverse menu, a quaint and fun historic atmosphere, and excellent service have made this restaurant an iconic part of our small town. Make sure to like the A1 Diner’s Facebook page to follow along with everything they are doing, and the next time you are in this river city make sure to stop by for a meal.
Just down the road is a lovely paved trail called The Rail Trial in Gardiner and you can go for a walk after a great meal at the A1 Diner.
