Maine is filled with all kinds of haunted lore. Whether it’s an abandoned tunnel or a paranormal inn, there’s no shortage of creepy places to discover. A ghost named William Richardson haunts the Goose River Bridge in Rockport, Maine, but don’t worry, he just wants to offer you a beer.

William became a local hero when he helped guide a supply ship up the Goose River to avoid capture by the British during the Revolutionary War. When the war ended, he celebrated in Rockport by going door to door, pouring everyone a beer.
He met his unfortunate demise when he offered a drink to two murderous British loyalists who were not happy about their loss.

If you’re lucky, you’ll have the chance to toast the end of the war with William when you visit the Goose River Bridge.
Drive 30-minutes south to Tenants Harbor, and you’ll be ready to search for your next friendly apparitions.

If you want to stick with the amiable type of ghost, avoid rooms 12 and 14, which are haunted by the presence of a woman who was the victim of an unfaithful husband.
