Friars’ Brewhouse In Maine Is A Unique Brewery Run By Friars
Maine has become known as a go-to destination for folks looking to enjoy some of the best local craft brews. Did you know that Portland has more breweries per capita than any other city? There’s a good reason for it! Mainers have just about perfected the art of great beer. But, more than that we’ve truly made it ours. Each brewery seems to have a unique Maine flair and that includes this spot run by the Franciscan Brothers of St. Elizabeth of Hungary in Bucksport.
Friars' Brewhouse in Bucksport might seem like an odd addition to this small town.
Afterall, it might be best known for things like Colonel Buck's Tomb, and the Penobscot Narrows Bridge. But take a closer look and you'll find this unique brewery that actually has a following all its own.
The Friars, Brothers Don and Ken, once owned the popular bake shop in town. But after closing they turns their attention to making their famous Belgian-style beer available to the public.
And of course the baking that they're known for can still be experienced in full force. Pick up some of their freshly baked bread to relive the days when their bakery was one of the best places to stock up.
No matter what the brothers are serving, whether it be bread or beer, we're loving it. And we're sure you will too!
Friar’s Brewhouse is open Tuesday through Saturday from 11:30 a.m. to 7 p.m. They’re closed on Sunday and Monday. You can learn more about the brotherhood through their facebook page. You can reach them on 207-702-9156. Address: 84 Main Street, Bucksport, ME 04416.
