Nothing Says Fall Is Here More Than A Visit To Maine’s Charming Alpaca Farm
Fall makes things just a little bit more cozy. From big sweaters to cups of cocoa, when the season changes from warm to chilly, we’re on the hunt for ways to make ourselves feel a little more at-home. One great way to do that is to get outside and explore our very own Maine backyard. Apple orchards, cider donuts, it all screams autumn in New England. But for an even more unique way to capture those autumn vibes head to this farm in Unity!
Welcome to Northern Solstice Alpaca Farm in Unity, where the cuteness level is on overload!
The farm has been offering free tours since 2006, which means they've perfected how to get visitors as close as possible to these special animals while being sure to let them feel safe.
The farm experience begins when you pull into the driveway! You'll be greeted by a farm worker who can explain a bit more about how the farm works. Once they understand what you hope to get out of your visit, you'll be led on a tour lasting between 10 and 30 minutes.
During your visit you'll come to understand more about how the alpacas live on the farm, what their personalities are like and how they help keep people warm all over the world.
And after enjoying your visit with the alpacas and perhaps even enjoying a picnic lunch, head inside to the gift shop where you can stock up on all types of alpaca-merchandise. From hats to gloves to socks to fibers that you can take home to create your own fun things, you'll be tempted to buy everything.
Northern Solstice Alpaca Farm is open Tuesday through Sunday from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. Check out their website to learn more and be sure to follow them on Facebook. Visits are free and you can learn more about how to do it here. If you have other questions give them a call on 207-356-2464.
Michelle has lived in many places, but counts Maine as one of the best. In addition to the smell of ocean water in the air on rainy days in Portland, she loves puppies, photography, funny people, the Maine Red Claws, traveling, fresh tomatoes, Cambodia and filling out forms.
