Not Many Know About This Exotic Animal Sanctuary Right Here In Maine

Seeing wildlife is Maine isn’t hard as long as you get outside once in a while. It’s not uncommon to come across a grazing moose if you’re on a rural road at the right (or wrong, depending on how you look at it!) time. But, if you’d rather just cross a whole bunch of animals off your list at once, we recommend heading to the Maine Wildlife Park in Gray!

The Maine Wildlife Park in Gray is a wonderful place to spend a day learning about the state's animals.

The animals here range from the every day moose...

...to the albino peacock...

...to the Peregrine Falcon.

And all of the adorable critters in between that roam free throughout the park.

The park consists of areas that act as natural settings for the animals to live their normal lives.

The animals live here for a few different reasons.

Most cannot be released back into the wild due to permanent injuries, habituation to humans, or due to being born in captivity.

Visitors follow a map around the large, but very walkable park, that allows them to watch the animals without disturbing them.

In addition to animals, there are also areas such as the Tree Trail that teaches visitors about local Maine Trees.

And, there's a Wetland Trail for visitors to see birds, turtles and fish.

Throughout the park there are opportunities to purchase small healthy snacks the bear, deer, pheasants, ducks, geese, and turkeys.

The park also has many events for visitors.

And there are lots of wardens on site for education.

We say this a lot, but there really is something for everyone at Maine Wildlife Park!
