Dig Into Hot Dogs And Seafood At Dunton’s Doghouse, A Roadside Stand In Maine
In Maine, you don’t need to travel far to find casual, delicious food for a good price. In fact, take a trip on any back road and you’re likely to run into an unexpected restaurant, roadside stand or even just a table with fresh eggs for sale. Maine is special for a lot of reasons, but this one might just be our favorite. If you love the roadside stands with fresh food, you’ll definitely want to give this one a shot. For a small place, they’ve got a big menu!
Dunton's Doghouse in Boothbay Harbor has been a fixture in the community since 1972 when Ed Dunton opened up shop. He eventually passed the business to his daughter who sold it to the current owner, Gary Starankewicz, in 1999.
Well, his personality and the menu. It's far bigger than you might imagine from a road side hot dog shack. And that's because there's a lot more to it than just the dogs.
Of course, those are delicious. Whether you choose something simple like a plain dog with ketchup or something with a lot more toppings you'll be satisfied.
Michelle has lived in many places, but counts Maine as one of the best. In addition to the smell of ocean water in the air on rainy days in Portland, she loves puppies, photography, funny people, the Maine Red Claws, traveling, fresh tomatoes, Cambodia and filling out forms.
