Get Away From It All At This Crystal Clear Lake In Maine
When you think of Acadia National Park in the summer, images of tourist packs and throngs of people might come to mind. While that’s certainly true for a lot of areas within this popular area, there are some places that still offer peace and quiet. One of our favorites is this clear lake in Maine. While it can get busy on warm days, the clear water and gentle breeze will remind you why we love Maine so much. If you’re in the area, it’s worth spending a day along the banks.
Folks consider the western side of Mount Desert Island to be far more quiet than the hustle and bustle you'll find in Acadia National Park and Bar Harbor on the other side.
While it does attract visitors, things here feel more serene. That makes this a great place to go if you need a break from the constant movement of the Acadia area.
If you didn't grow up visiting lakes, you might prefer the see-through waters of the ocean. But, Echo Lake could very well change your perception. The water here is crystal clear in many areas.
Echo Lake is located on the western side of Mount Desert Island, near Route 102 a bit south of Somesville. The beach can be found on the southern shore and there’s a lifeguard on duty between Memorial Day and Labor Day.
Address: Acadia National Park, Mount Desert Island, ME, 04660
