Nervous Nellie's Jams & Jellies is a difficult place to describe in mere pictures and words.

Located in Deer Isle, Nervous Nellies is one part store, one part cafe and one part unique sculpture gallery.

But even "gallery" isn't the right word considering it truly feels more like a small town.

But first, let's not forget why it has its name - the awesome jams and chutneys available for purchase!

These are mostly made using local ingredients and can be purchased throughout the year - even when it's covered in a Maine snow.

There's also a seasonally open cafe for stopping to enjoy yourself during your visit.

But! The real fun is the fact that the entire place is full of unique characters sculpted on the premises loved by everyone who visits.

Sculptor, Peter Beerits, lives here and has been adding to the place for years.

Visitors are invited to walk around meeting and greeting each of the individual sculptures created out of wood, metal, and glass.

Each is made by repurposing old farm equipment as well as other found materials.

Part of the fun is trying to determine where the pieces came from originally!

Nellieville is a community made of unique people and animals all enjoying each other's company.

You'll find them in and around one of the re-purposed buildings dating back to the 19th century.

The wild west feel comes with a jail, a lawyer’s office, and a swingin' saloon!

Each building has been brought back to its original look and feel to provide tiny museums for people to experience and enjoy.

Tours of Nellieville by the artist are available every Sunday at 1pm.

We love this place, and Yankee Magazine agrees, having given it their "Best Everything Place" award!
