Maine’s Largest Christmas Light Display Will Be Drive-Thru Only This Year Making It Even More Magical
There’s nothing better than the light displays that have popped up all over Maine! From the homemade versions that require days of work to the ones constructed by professionals in our larger towns and cities, there’s nothing quite like them that brings us into the holiday spirit. And each year we especially look forward to one very special event in Boothbay Harbor. Some of our favorite traditions have been put on hold, but this one has changed course and we think it might be even better!
The Coastal Maine Botanical Gardens in Boothbay Harbor offers one of the most beautiful ways to get close to nature. And while winter might mean a break, we always look forward to their incredible light display, Gardens Aglow.
For the last six years the entire grounds have been lit up to celebrate the season and no special touches were left off the annual to-do list! But as with a lot of things this year, the garden has had to make some changes to how to run things. And we think this year might be even better than the last!
Each vehicle must be under nine feet to fit. And no trucks or RVs will be allowed. You can expect the trip to take about 20 minutes and you can feel free to have as many people in the car as there are seat belts.
Everyone can stay safe while enjoying time with their household. Things might be different this year, but that doesn't mean they're not special. And this year's Gardens Aglow certainly proves that!
Gardens Aglow at the Coastal Maine Botanical Gardens in Boothbay Harbor runs Thursday through Sunday from now through December 24th and then daily from December 25th through January 2nd. For the most part, they’re open rain or shine but be prepared for cancellations during larger snow storms.
Tickets are $40 per car for non-members and $30 per car for members. To accommodate all visitors without backups each ticket grants entry for a specific time. Remember that you’ll need to purchase them in advance as on-location tickets will not be sold. You can learn more about this year’s event and purchase tickets here. Check them out on Facebook, too!
