With BBQ, Ice Cream And Mini Golf This Maine Eatery Is Its Own Day Trip
When the weather gets warm here in Maine all we want to do is venture off to spots we’ve never seen. Many of these are in more rural areas and we couldn’t be more happy about that! Each and every corner of the state offers fun and adventure, no matter what you’re interested in. For instance, a fun adventure to us includes great food and activities that keep us busy. This farm offers all of that and more. And the best part is you only need to set your GPS for one destination to find it all!
We’re aware that these uncertain times are limiting many aspects of life. While we continue to feature destinations that make our state wonderful, please take proper precautions or add them to your bucket list to see at a later date. If you know of a local business that could use some extra support during these times, please nominate them here: onlyinyourstate.com/nominate
Welcome to Shaw's Ridge Farm in little Sanford, Maine! This place has a great history and today it offers one a one-stop shop for all the things you love most about road trips in Vacationland!
Today, the farm is owned by the 7th generation of the Shaw family! Up until the 1930s it operated at a dairy farm, owned by the grandfather of today's owner. Quite a few people have great memories of walking to this place for a cone when they were small and today that magical feeling still exists with a few added bonuses.
Ice cream is what most people think of when they think of Shaw's Ridge and it certainly doesn't disappoint. Open every day, you could easily get a different locally made flavor each time you visit.
This place is about as Maine summer as it gets and we think you'll love it!
Shaw’s Ridge Farm is open Monday through Thursday from 11:30 a.m. to 8:30 p.m., Friday from 11:30 a.m. to 9 p.m., Saturday from 11 a.m. to 9 p.m. and Sunday from 11 a.m. to 8:30 p.m. You can learn more about them by visiting their website or following them on Facebook. Michelle has lived in many places, but counts Maine as one of the best. In addition to the smell of ocean water in the air on rainy days in Portland, she loves puppies, photography, funny people, the Maine Red Claws, traveling, fresh tomatoes, Cambodia and filling out forms.
