You can find them located in High Peaks, Bigelow Range, Eastern White Mountains, and Baxter State Park.

They are Mt. Katahdin, Baxter Peak, Mount Katahdin, Hamlin Peak, and North Brother. A view of any of these majestic mountains is worth the trip.
The tallest of these mountains is Mt. Katahdin, which reaches 5,267 feet high.

It’s also the northern end of the Appalachian Trail. Katahdin actually means "The Greatest Mountain," named by the native Penobscot people.

If you’re hiking Mt. Katahdin, make sure to reserve your parking pass in advance. It only costs $5.00, and you’ll have to reserve it before 3:00 p.m. the day before your hike. You can also show up and try to secure a parking pass if a spot opens up.
If you want to hike other areas of this gorgeous wilderness, the parking lots are first come first serve.
