If you’ve read Only in Maine for even just a few weeks, you’ve surely picked up on how much we love sharing the Maine outdoors with you. From secret beaches to wonderful waterfalls, there are seemingly endless options for exploring the world around us. But, let’s be totally honest – we’re not looking to take an epic hike every weekend! There are times we just want to relax while enjoying everything this state has to offer. Luckily for us, Vacationland agrees – and she’s given us the Bar Harbor Shore Path on Mt. Desert Island!

There are so many wonderful things about this walking path that hugs the shoreline in Bar Harbor - not the least of which is the incredible view!

To experience it for yourself, you'll start by parking on the street near the West Street Pier or at Agamont Park across from the pier.

From here, you'll see a long dock where the Margaret S. Todd Schooner is docked during warmer seasons.

One you see the path winding around the bend, you'll know you're in the right place!

The Shore Path is about 1.5 miles with no real elevation gain, making it perfect for those who prefer views to working up a sweat.

The path continues to Wayman Lane where you can either turn around and head back...

Or, you can continue on, taking a right towards the main town, walking back on Main Street.

You can do this walk anytime, but we love it during sunrise and sunset, when Bar Harbor clears out a bit as people head to the summit of Cadillac Mountain.
