This Maine Bakery Has Been Around For 70 Years And We’re Loving Every Second
Maine’s history is full of highs and lows. From forts to museums to trails, the history here involves things dating as far back as 1000 BCE. While we love this history and tend to write about it quite a bit here at Only in Maine, we have to say that today we’re feeling seriously snacky. That means we’re particularly proud of our food history which includes celebrating one Maine bakery that’s been around for a very, very long time!
We’re aware that these uncertain times are limiting many aspects of life. While we continue to feature destinations that make our state wonderful, please take proper precautions or add them to your bucket list to see at a later date. If you know of a local business that could use some extra support during these times, please nominate them here: onlyinyourstate.com/nominate
Botto's Bakery is a third-generation spot creating handmade Italian breads and pastries for the good people of Portland (and beyond!) every day.
Never been to Botto's? Don't worry! There's a good chance you've already tasted their superb craftsmanship because they supply a great deal of Portland's restaurants with fresh bread every single day.
The second was the Godfather cupcake, which is a coffee liqueur chocolate cupcake filled with espresso pastry cream. As if that's not great enough, it's then dipped in chocolate ganache and covered with whipped cream and crushed chocolate covered espresso beans.
Botto’s Bakery is located at 550 Washington Ave., Portland, Maine. They’re open Monday through Friday from 6 a.m. to 2 p.m. and on Saturday from 6 a.m. to noon. They’re closed on Sunday. Check out their website for more information and pay close attention to their Facebook page for more 2019 70th anniversary roll-outs! You can give them a call on 207-773-9647.
Michelle has lived in many places, but counts Maine as one of the best. In addition to the smell of ocean water in the air on rainy days in Portland, she loves puppies, photography, funny people, the Maine Red Claws, traveling, fresh tomatoes, Cambodia and filling out forms.
