This Maine Arcade With 25 Vintage Games Will Bring Out Your Inner Child

Everyone remembers what it was like to spend weekend afternoons with that friend who had ALL the great video games. You’d hunker down, sharing controllers and eating snacks forgetting about everything else. The only thing that would have made those days better is if mom wasn’t going to make you come home in time for dinner. And, also maybe a few adult beverages. If you agree, you’ll be pretty pleased to learn about this unique place in Portland. It’s got fun drink concoctions, snacks and some of your favorite childhood games!

Arcadia National Bar is the only place of its type in the state - and if you love having old-school fun with friends, you're going to want to check it out!

The arcade itself is set up casually, with a bar along with smaller tables for eating and game playing.

In addition to the arcade games we'll tell you about, there are lots of board games to enjoy with friends.

But, the real draw here are the vintage arcade games - from regular video games to pinball.

There are about 12 pinball games here at all times including things like Guardians of the Galaxy and Attack From Mar. Every so often they'll rotate making things even more interesting.

There are 15 arcade games including classics like Galaga, Ms. Pac Man and NBA Jam.

And don't forget the ultimate arcade game - Skeeball!

You'll often find people enjoying the games by not just playing them, but watching others beat high scores well into the night.

And, if you're going to be here for a few hours you'll want to eat! By that, we mean eating some of the most unique bar food you've ever had including the muffins served on Muffin Monday. Get 2 pizza-like snacks for just $5.

Or, dig into some bacon cream cheese jalapeño poppers.

Arcadia National Bar is located at 24 Preble St., Portland. They’re open Monday, Wednesday, Thursday, Friday and Sunday from 4 p.m. to 1 a.m. On Saturday they’re open from noon to 1 a.m. Like many bars and restaurants in Portland, they’re closed on Tuesday.
