Between our lobstermen and blueberry harvests, Maine is responsible for keeping the belly’s of this country happy and satisfied. But, what else can the world thank us for? Below are just a few reasons why the world just wouldn’t be the same without us.

Poet and educator, Henry Wadsworth Longfellow, was born in Portland where his home can still be toured today. He's famous for works such as Paul Revere's Ride, The Song of Hiawatha, and Evangeline. If you've been to Cape Elizabeth, you know that he used to make the long walk from Portland to the Head Light for some quiet time.
6. No perfectly-pitched "Beca" from the movie "Pitch Perfect."

7. And absolutely zero sightings of the man formerly known as "McDreamy."
