These 7 Nature Trails In Louisiana Are Perfect For A Short Winter Hike
Just because we’re heading into winter doesn’t mean that you can’t get outdoors and do some exploring. There are dozens of trails around Louisiana that are perfect for a short winter hike – here are some of our favorites!

The Stoner Trail is a roughly 2.5-mile loop trail located in Shreveport that’s great for both hikers and bikers. Along the way, you’ll come across some beautiful views of the Red River and you’ll be surrounded by majestic pines.

There are a few different trails at the Northlake Nature Center that are perfect for a winter hike. You’ll have some spectacular spots to gaze out at the marshes and bayous - and maybe even spot some wildlife! Address: 23135 US-190, Mandeville, LA 70448

This five-mile trail near Baton Rouge is a popular trail for both hikers and bikers, and overlooks the Comite River at some points, offering delightful views along your walk. The trail is pet-friendly, so bring your pup!

At 6.5 miles, this loop trail in Keithville is a moderate route that is perfect for a winter hike. The coolest part? You’ll can hear the chimpanzees that live in the nearby Chimp Haven sanctuary, which adds a uniquely wild element to your outdoor adventure!

Head over to the Big Branch Marsh National Wildlife Refuge to experience this fun boardwalk trail. Great for kids of all ages, you’ll have some beautiful views of the 19,000-acre marsh.

The Black Swamp Trail is roughly two miles long and located near Baton Rouge. You’ll be surrounded by beautiful scenery and have the opportunity to see some wildlife, too. The trail is pet-friendly - just make sure your pup is on a leash.

The seven-mile nature trail at Bogue Chitto State Park is a beautiful trail offering some hilly areas and lovely scenery along the way. Fricke’s Cave, a sandstone formation, is a popular sight to see, so be sure to bring your camera!
