5 Roads With The Best Windshield Views In All Of Louisiana
The weather is perfect right now for getting in the car and doing a little scenic driving. So roll the windows down, turn the music up and enjoy the view of some of the most picturesque scenic roads in all of Louisiana.
1. Longleaf Trail Byway
Nestled in the Kisatchie Forest, you’ll encounter stunning views as you drive through this picturesque landscape. Elevations range from 80 to 400 feet above sea level, and the terrain will surprise you.
2. Creole Nature Trail
This 180-mile All-American Road allows you to experience true Cajun culture. As you travel down the road you’ll have phenomenal views of bayous, marshes, swamps and 26 miles of natural Gulf beaches.
3. River Road
The 70-mile stretch from Baton Rouge to New Orleans is dotted with beautiful plantation homes, making for a lovely scenic drive. Plan your route and stop in and take a tour of some of these beautiful homes!
4. Oak Tunnel
Also known as the Tunnel of Love, the drive down this St. Bernard road is simply breathtaking on a beautiful day. Roll the windows down and enjoy the view as you drive under a canopy of ancient oaks.
5. Toledo Bend Forest Scenic Byway
This byway runs parallel with the Toledo Bend Reservoir, the largest man made lake in the South. Be sure to stop off at either North or South Toledo Bend State Park (or both) to enjoy some lovely scenery. Keep an eye out for bald eagles, as they’re frequently spotted in the area.
