10 Swamp Trails Everyone In Louisiana Needs To Hike Before They Die
There are so many unique hikes to take in Louisiana, but the boardwalk hikes are my absolute favorite. They get you up close and personal with the swamp in a way that is truly unique. There is so much gorgeous nature to enjoy in our beautiful state, and it’s that much better when you don’t have to worry about mud! Here are some of the most beautiful boardwalk trails in all of the state.

This trail right outside of New Orleans leads you to a marsh overlook that will wow your senses. Keep your eyes peeled for alligators!


Right off HWY 165 in Monroe, LA you'll find this unique and gorgeous hike that will take you through a marsh that the painter Monet would have envied. The lilies here are simply gorgeous.

You’ll find this delightful boardwalk trail within the city limits of Baton Rouge and it’s the perfect way to spend the day with loved ones. The trails are a perfect length for people with young children. 10503 N Oak Hills Pkwy, Baton Rouge, LA

One of the only beach boardwalks in the state, you'll enjoy the checking out the unique plants and animals that like to live right at the seashore. Admiral Craik Drive, Grand Isle, LA

Part of the Creole Nature Trail, you'll enjoy the beautiful nature this area has to offer, in one of the most fertile nature areas in the state. 3000 Holly Beach Hwy, Hackberry, LA

Just outside of New Orleans you'll find this unique marsh boardwalk that gives you perfect viewing of the marsh grasses and the birds that call these environments home. 61389 Highway 434, Lacombe, LA

Outside of Lafayette, Lake Martin is a favorite place for birdwatchers since so many birds use the areas around this lake to raise their young. The boardwalk trail is a great one! 1264 Prairie Hwy, Breaux Bridge, LA

Right next door to the arboretum is Chicot State Park, which offers one of the longest trails in all of the Louisiana state parks, over 18 miles through the gorgeous swamp and lake here.
