9 Scrumptious Restaurants In Louisiana You Never Even Knew Existed
Sometimes the best things are off the beaten path. Sure, there are tons of wonderful restaurants in major cities that are well known and loved by many, but sometimes the best things can be found in small towns when you venture off the beaten path. The following restaurants are absolutely scrumptious and, now that you know they exist, you can plan your next trip!
We’re aware that these uncertain times are limiting many aspects of life. While we continue to feature destinations that make our state wonderful, please take proper precautions or add them to your bucket list to see at a later date. If you know of a local business that could use some extra support during these times, please nominate them here:
1. A-Bear’s Cafe
Houma’s oldest restaurant opened in 1963 and their commitment to quality food has kept them in business all these years. Make sure you save room for dessert, as their peanut butter pie is out of this world. A-Bear’s Cafe is located 809 Bayou Black Dr, Houma, Louisiana 70360.
2. Al Aqaba
Al Aqaba serves up some of the best Mediterranean food in the area. Generous portions and perfectly seasoned dishes make this place a must-stop on your next visit to St. Francisville. Al Aqaba is located at 5712 Commerce Street, St. Francisville, LA 70775.
This hidden gem serves up some of the best hot dogs on the Northshore. Always 100% beef, topped with fresh toppings, homemade just the way it should be. Bruiser’s is located at 1904 Front St, Slidell, Louisiana 70458.
4. Fat Boy & Skinny’s
If you’re in the mood for a juicy burger and fries, this is the place to be. Delicious, mouth-watering burgers piled high with your favorite toppings. You just can’t go wrong with a burger from this place. Fat boy & Skinny’s is located at 303 S. 5th Street, Leesville, LA 71446.
5. Martha’s Bistro
You’ll be amazed at how good the food is at Martha’s Bistro. Delicious cajun meals that are just as good as your mama used to make. Martha’s Bistro is located at 19900 Old Scenic Hwy, Zachary, Louisiana 70791.
6. Rice Palace
Crowley is known as the rice capital of the world, so it’s only fitting that this restaurant specializes in rice (and everything that goes with it). The atmosphere is friendly, nostalgic even. The walls are decorated with old black and white photos of Crowley’s history, and soft rock n’roll classics play in the background. The Rice Palace is open 24 hours a day, so no matter when hunger strikes you, the Rice Palace is there for you. The Rice Palace is located at 2015 N Cherokee Dr, Crowley, Louisiana 70526.
7. The Snack Shack
Delicious diner food at affordable prices, how can you beat that? Don't forget to get a milkshake to wash down that burger, they're the best! The Snack Shack is located at 704 Chisum St, Sicily Island, Louisiana 71368.
8. Stone House Eats
This family run restaurant has been serving the Rayville area since 1994, and the friends atmosphere and delicious food are the reasons behind their success. Their bread is baked in-house daily, and their menu is constantly changing with daily specials that are sinfully delicious. Stone House Eats is located at 828 Julia St, Rayville, Louisiana 71269.
9. Tee Wayne's Cajun Cooking
Everything is amazing over at Tee Wayne’s. They’re only open for lunch, and be sure to get there early so you can avoid the line, but it’s worth it. Their shrimp burger is one of the most popular items on the menu, and they’re constantly inventing new specials, like their chicken stuffed with smoked brisket (pictured above). Tee Wayne’s is located at 39087 Highway 621, Gonzales, Louisiana 70737.
