There are so many scenic trails in Louisiana, it’s hard to keep track. No matter where you live, you’re generally not that far away from a delightfully scenic nature trail that will positively enchant you. Next time you’re in the mood for an outdoor adventure filled with some of Louisiana’s most beautiful natural scenery, venture over to Sam Houston Jones State Park.
Established in 1944, Sam Houston Jones State Park is one of the highlights in the Lake Charles area.
With the exception of the Longleaf Pine Trail (3.5 miles) all of the trails are under two miles long, so you can easily mix and match the trails to fit your schedule.
And you’re bound to spot some wildlife while you’re there. In addition to the usual swamp critters like alligators and turtles, you’ll probably come across some of the park’s resident deer!
