A Visit To This Rustic General Store In Louisiana Is Like Stepping Back In Time
Sometimes you walk into a place and it feels like time has frozen still. That’s certainly the vibe in this charming general store that also doubles as a museum. Let’s take a closer look at this hidden gem that feels like a time capsule.
We’re aware that these uncertain times are limiting many aspects of life. You’ll feel like you’ve traveled back in time when you step inside this charmingly rustic general store and museum.

It was also one of the only buildings to survive the fires in both 1890 and 1908, which practically destroyed the entire town.

The museum is located in the back of the store and is free to visit.

You’ll find artifacts dating back to the late 1870s when the store first opened. An authentic 20-foot cypress dugout boat, a 1920s gas pump, even an incredibly old, petrified rat are just some of the items on display here—history lovers will find this place fascinating.

You can find J.H. Smith & Sons at 308 N Columbia St., Covington, LA 70433.
