From the swampy marshes in the south to the rolling hills in the north, Louisiana has some of the most picturesque landscapes in the country, and we are blessed that we have these incredible views right in our back yard. One of the most beautiful hidden gems in this department is the Red River National Wildlife Refuge, and you’ll love spending the day at this natural oasis. Let’s check it out.

Located in Bossier City, the Red River National Wildlife Refuge is one of the most idyllic locations for nature lovers.
The Refuge is composed of four units in the Red River Valley of Northwestern Louisiana and will eventually consist of 50,000 acres of protected areas to help conservation efforts.
There’s plenty of activities to keep you busy for the afternoon, including the Discovery Play Area which includes a faux fishing boat and a treehouse that the little ones will love.
The visitor’s center is a great place to start. Here, you’ll discover more about the refuge and learn about wildlife in the area. It’s a great educational opportunity for the whole family.
