If there is one thing people in New Orleans are great at, it’s nostalgia. Often as I walk along the streets I find as much pleasure reminiscing about things that used to be here as I do discovering what is new. Here are the top 9 things that you can’t do in New Orleans anymore…but you wish that you could.
There are so many things I miss about these purple and gold themed stores, but the ice cream just may be the thing I miss the most.
One of the classics of New Orleans that you simply can't replace. There was nothing like the seafood platters at this place.

Remnants of that iconic bakery chain can still be found all over the city, including this former location that is now Creole Creamery. Ah how I miss those delicious treats.

Sure, Ms. Mae's is still open, and many of its charms are still intact. But the $1 drinks are now $2...making it just not quite the same anymore.

So many people have incredible fond memories of this place, I'm truly heart broken that I was born after it closed. Who thinks there's a chance something like this could reopen at the lake?
Apparently this used to be common practice at Audubon Park. I know sometimes it still happens...but usually it's dogs doing the swimming. Looks like a lot of fun though!
Since Katrina, the Dixie Brewery has been closed, so it's been tough to snag one of these. Recently though the Benson family purchased the label, and there are plans to restart making beer here in NOLA. So this one might be possible sooner rather than later!
Oh how I miss those weekly dance parties...there's really been nothing like it since this place closed years ago. It's another big mystery why nothing has ever been able to take its place.

And finally, one of the most beloved desserts still hasn't found a way to resume production following a bakery fire. Maybe if we keep praying those chocolate filled pies will return!
