Established in 1957, this local landmark went through quite a few different establishments before landing on a restaurant. Originally a bar, Willie Mae’s also operated as a barbershop and a beauty salon in the 60s before switching to a restaurant in the early 1970’s.

It didn't take long for word to spread, and soon people were making it a priority restaurant for tourists coming in from out of town. You’ll often have to wait in line, but that’s clearly a sign you’re in the right place.

There are a few different dining rooms, each one just as homey and casual as the next. For a fried chicken and southern food restaurant, that’s exactly the vibe you want.

Southern comfort food at its finest.

Their fried chicken entree comes with three pieces of fried chicken served with one side.

Fried to perfection, their fried chicken has a great crunch while still being juicy and not dried out. One bite and you’ll be hooked.

From macaroni and cheese to butter beans, Willie Mae’s has an endless array of sides to choose from, but you’ll want to snag a plate of fried okra and maybe some cornbread muffins for the table. Both are some of their most popular side dishes and the perfect accompaniment to their delicious fried chicken.

You can snag some of their tasty fried chicken from 10 a.m. till 8 p.m. Monday through Saturday. Get there early to beat the crowds!
