This Amazingly Unique New Orleans Museum Will Have Your Mouth Watering
There is something really delicious brewing on Oretha Castle Haley Blvd, and we think you are going to fall in love with how fascinating and beautifully taken care of this museum is.
The Southern Food and Beverage Museum in New Orleans was founded in 2004.
It's first location was in the Riverwalk mall of New Orleans, and then moved to the current location at 1504 Oretha Castle Haley Blvd. The new facility opened in 2014.
The new museum features a large variety of exhibits celebrating the delicious Southern food culture in the area.
There is something for every food lover in the place--and drinks as well!
There are a number of dynamic exhibits at this museum, including features on sugar in Louisiana and eating seafood in the South.
Visitors get to explore how beautiful and fascinating this rich food history of this region.
A popular exhibit here is called "Acadian to Cajun", documenting the transformation of Cajun cuisine.
It features information about how Cajun cuisine became a popular choice for diners across America.
Bruning's Bar is part of the display from the 1830s that is being restored.
The bar display is salvaged from the wreckage of Bruning's Restaurant, which was damaged during Katrina. It was the third oldest restaurant in New Orleans.
Besides regular museum hours, there are often events at the museum that attract many participants.
Cooking demonstrations are very popular here and showcase the region's best chefs.
There are also cooking classes offered here that are a lot of fun.
And the museum includes a popular restaurant, Purloo, which is open for diners everyday.
