The Remote Town Near New Orleans That’s Full Of Adventure
Looking to get away and have a bit of an adventure? Louisiana is full of small towns (and even big cities) where you can spend a weekend exploring. This one tiny town at the tip of the boot is full of outdoor adventures just waiting for you to explore.
Welcome to Grand Isle, a small fishing community of about 1,300 people.
It may be a small town, but it’s filled with fun adventures.
Known for being a fisherman’s paradise, Grand Isle is perfect for those looking to take to the water.
With more than 280 species of fish, anglers of all ages and skill levels will be in heaven catching all the fish.
You can fish from the beach or the pier, bring your own boat, or hop aboard a professional charter fishing company.
During the summer, thousands of anglers travel to Grand Isle to participate in the annual Tarpon Rodeo.
And Grand Isle is the perfect place to do some birdwatching.
The annual Grand Isle Migratory Bird Celebration takes place April 20-21 throughout the town. You’ll see hundreds of songbirds and shorebirds throughout the island. Last year more than 168 different species were spotted.
Of course, there are seven miles of beaches so you can sink your toes in the sand.
The views are stunning, and if you keep an eye out, you’ll probably see some dolphins!
The Grand Isle State Park even allows visitors to camp right on the beach.
Create memories that’ll last a lifetime as you gaze up at the stars with the sounds of the waves crashing on the shore.
The sunsets are pretty spectacular, too.
You won't even think you're in Louisiana anymore.
