This Quirky Mexican Restaurant In New Orleans Is Unexpectedly Awesome
There’s nothing better than feasting on some mouthwateringly good Mexican food. When you’re in the mood for tacos and tequila, there are endless restaurants in the city you could turn to, but none are as quirky and unexpectedly awesome as this one. Let’s check it out.
Welcome to Casa Borrega, a delightfully quirky Mexican restaurant located on Oretha Castle Haley Boulevard. You can’t miss it from the outside, just look for the antique truck parked out front.
Owners Hugo Montero and Lisa Stone purchased the dilapidated 1891 Greek Revival home in 2008 and spend over four years renovating the building, using recycled materials from New Orleans, Mexico, and San Antonio.
Inside, you’ll be surrounded by a sea of colorful decorations, rustic vibes, and a casual, friendly atmosphere.
On a pleasant evening, you can’t go wrong with enjoying your meal on their beautiful outdoor patio.
The menu isn’t like anything you’ll find in the city.
Featuring homemade versions of Mexican street food, traditional Mexican fare, and even some hearty Tex-Mex options, you'll find yourself having a hard time deciding on what to get.
From chile relleno to mole enchiladas, you'll find yourself coming back again and again to try everything on the menu.
And what goes better with Mexican food than a fruity cocktail? They've quite the extensive tequila and mezcal menu, and maybe some of the best margaritas in the city.
Casa Borrega is open for lunch and dinner Tuesday through Thursday from 11 a.m. until 9:30 p.m. and 11 a.m. until 10:30 p.m. on Friday and Saturdays. They feature live music on the weekends, so be sure to check out their website for a full list of times.
