Located in Marrero, Barataria Preserve is one of six sites that compromise the Jean Lafitte National Historical Park and Preserve.

It’s just a 30-40 minute drive from New Orleans, yet you’ll feel like you’re in a completely different world.

Barataria Preserve is made up of 23,000 acres of beautiful bayous, marshes and swamps that are just waiting to be explored.

The preserve has several boardwalk and gravel trails that are great for exploring.

Kids and adults of all ages will love getting a glimpse into a part of nature that they just wouldn’t get to see any other way.

Wildlife enthusiasts will especially love getting the opportunity to get up close and personal with gators, snakes, and over 200 species of birds that are found in the preserve.

At the end of the Marsh Overlook trail, you’re in for a real treat. On a clear day, you’ll be able to see for miles. An endless sea of green that is simply breathtaking, and worth the extra effort to get there.
