5 Magical Light Displays In New Orleans That Will Simply Mesmerize You This Season
The holiday season is here! It’s time to throw on your winter hats, grab some hot chocolate, and stroll through the streets underneath canopies of twinkling lights. We’ve got all the best light displays in the city that are perfect for a weekend evening with family and friends.
1. Celebration in the Oaks
What started as a small fundraiser for the Botanical Gardens has become one of the top ten holiday light displays in the country. The celebration kicks off the day after Thanksgiving and runs until January 2nd. More than 550,000 LED light bulbs illuminate the 25 acres of the park, including the Botanical Garden, Storyland, and Carousel Gardens Amusement Park. 1 Palm Drive, New Orleans, LA 70124.
2. Roosevelt Lobby
The lobby of the Roosevelt hotel transforms into a Winter Wonderland that everyone should see at least once. The lighting ceremony is November 28th, and the lobby display features 44 Birch trees, over 22,00 lights, and dozens of perfectly decorated Christmas trees. It’s been a holiday tradition since the 1930s, and the display just gets more and more impressive every year. 130 Roosevelt Way New Orleans, La 70112.
3. Kenner Christmas Village
Head over to Kenner City Park from November 25-December 30 to stroll through a festive holiday village decorated with lights and animated scenery. The village features ice skating, food vendors, shopping, a Christmas tree lot, live performances, and more. 3800 Loyola Ave, Kenner, LA 70065.
4. Canal Street
More than a million twinkling lights light up Canal Street and the surrounding downtown area. The lighting ceremony was Tuesday, November 21 and will run until the first week of January. Stroll down canal or take a ride on the streetcar for a truly magical experience.
5. Miracle on Fulton Street
The pedestrian walkway on Fulton will be lit up with tons of lights from December 1 until December 23. Featuring daily snowfall, this is certainly worth your while. There will be live entertainment and a chance to meet Santa every Friday and Saturday evenings.
